Here is the example kit list for Scout hike. 2nd Blackburn has a supply of hiking tents, sleep mats and backpacks. Please talk to the leaders about this, One critical thing is making sure your scout has the right backpack. The right backpack means you can easily carry the weight. The wrong one means a complaining, sore scout.

When packing, avoid cotton and adjust each layer based on the forecast; always prepare, too, for the chance that conditions will turn colder, wetter and windier.
Two collared shirts (UPF rating recommended)
Thermal under garments – long sleeve top and leggings/long johns
3-4 pairs of underwear
Quick-drying pants/shorts (Your zip-off scout uniform pants double as the perfect hike pant!)

When hiking, it is important to keep your pack as light as possible by not packing items that aren’t essential. Scouts must always keep this in mind, even when it comes to toiletries.

Eating gear: knife, fork, spoon, and cup, bowl, plate (From the linked sets, it will be sufficient to only take your cutlery, cup and bowl. Leaving behind your plate will make your pack lighter and easier to pack!)
Small groundsheet (to sit on, unload your pack on, or use as a ground sheet for your tent etc.)
